Balliceaux Brunch and Watermelon Festival Outfit

This past Sunday was quite an eventful one. First I enjoyed brunch at Balliceaux with my parents. I had the "Lox and a Schmear" which was absolutely delicious. It was a pleasure seeing fellow RVAFB (Richmond VA Fashion Blogger) member London, of Young Dumb Love , who happened to be our waitress, looking absolutely fabulous as usual (check out her blog, shes got great style!!).

After brunch I headed to the Watermelon Festival with friends Leney and Brian. It was a lovely afternoon walking around Carytown, enjoying the festivities and people (well really outfit) watching. We also saw our other blogger friend Liz of I Heart Vegetables!!

I wanted to look cute and summery without being too casual and this dress worked perfectly for that. A quick shoe change from sky high platforms to more appropriate for walking kitten heel sandals and voila!! The perfect Sunday look.

How was your weekend?? Did you do anything fun??

PS. My birthday is in 1 week :]

Orange, Gold and Leopard

Last year if you asked me if I would ever wear bright orange I would say "HELL NO". My justification would have been first of all I am way too pale and second of all I am not a brights girl...at all. Well this year, like I have mentioned in posts before, I am pushing all of my fashion boundaries and throwing all of my "rules" out the window, so when I saw this top at The Limited the other week I figured "what the hell, I'll try it!!". I picked out a bunch of other pieces that were pretty typical for me (aka black and form fitting) and after I tried everything on the orange top was the definite winner. It fit perfectly, flowed beautifully, and by some miracle did not wash me out. Its now one of my favorite items in my closet.

So the lesson to learn from this is NO RULES!!! We all have to get dressed everyday until the day we die, so why not have fun while doing it?!? Just a thought :]

Gold and Glitter

I'm beginning to realize that next to silky/satin fabrics linen is my next best friend this summer. This striped linen dress is great because it breathes and keeps me cool but I still look put together, when in reality I would much rather be hanging out in a bikini until summer is over. All I can think about is how much I am looking forward to fall and wearing boots, leather, dark colors, and more importantly not sweating to death.

Are you looking forward to fall fashion??

Checkered Coral

It's been a rough 2 weeks for me but after some time to regroup I am back and ready for fashion blogging action. This is pretty much a typical summer brunch outing look for me: sundress, sandals, and a cross body bag. I wore this outfit yesterday to have brunch at one of my favorite local spots Mezzanine, where I almost always get the fried green tomato Eggs Benedict with crab, YUM (my mouth is watering all over again just thinking about it!!).

I love this dress and found it for under $10 at Rumors, another one of favorite local thrift boutiques. Because it is so easy and effortless it has become my go to sundress for the past 2 summers. I also scooped up these adorable coral suede sandals from Clementine a week or so ago and I haven't been able to stop wearing them. I love the small heel because I still feel chic and put together but my feet aren't screaming for help.

What do you like to wear to be chic and comfortable for Sunday brunch??

P.S. I made my first gif!! Check it out below!!

Couture Love

Fall 2012 couture season is here and there have been some really fabulous collections catching my eye:

 I mean it's Chanel....is it ever bad??

Raf Simons showed his first collection for Dior and in my opinion he is exactly what the design house needed. I love the 80's power woman looks and really, do you think I would every not love a bedazzled jumpsuit?!

The king of embellished sheer/lace dresses, Elie Saab couture gowns are always flawless and these sexy, royal colored pieces are no exception.

This collection reminds me of a Victorian princess with a wild side and taste for all things fabulous and luxury....kind of like who I pretend to be daily, so needless to say I love all of these regal looks.

Which collections are you loving??
